bio_picJack Porter is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture. With graduate work at the Lake Forest School of Management in Lake Forest, Jack also has further his schooling at Harvard University in golf course design. Most of Jack’s 35-year career history has centered around planning, entitlement, design, land development and construction management for recreational, commercial/industrial, residential, golf courses and planned unit developments.

From his early career as the Director of Planning and Design for the Lake County Forest Preserve to his most recent success as the developer of The Sanctuary of Bull Valley, a 300-acre conservation designed community, Jack has significant “hands on” experience and responsibilities for a wide variety of developments as developer, owner and consultant.

Jack is a Member of the City of Woodstock Plan Commission and a member of the Land First Task Force of McHenry County which helped implement the new Conservation Design ordinance in McHenry County. He sits on the Board of Governors for Centegra Hospital and also serves in various other government and not-for-profit advisory capacities. He is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) and is a registered Landscape Architect in the State of Illinois. He is currently President/CEO of Jack Porter & Associates, Inc., and is managing partner of Conservâre, a conservation design development company and LandKeepers, LLC a property management company specializing in the management, monitoring and maintenance of natural open spaces.
